Wayzata Bay Center Redevelopment
The Wayzata Bay Center Redevelopment project is located on a 14.52 acre property, known locally as the Wayzata Bay Shopping Center. The property is located on the eastern edge of downtown, bounded by Lake Street, Superior Boulevard and Circle A Drive.
The project was approved by the City Council in June of 2008, and will redevelop the shopping center and other pad commercial development on the site to create a new mixed use development.
The project proposes 130,000 square feet of retail use, 325 senior housing units (memory care, assisted living, and independent living units), 85 conventional housing units (condominium homes or rental apartments), 25,000 – 30,000 square feet of office, and an 80 -100 room limited service hotel. Parking will be accommodated both on street and in parking decks to meet required parking demands. Additional public improvements include a realigned Superior Boulevard, innovative stormwater system design, and a 1 acre public plaza.
The construction of the Wayzata Bay Center redevelopment project is underway. Four of the five blocks of the projects are completed. Construction of the final block is anticipated to start in Fall 2015.
