Become a Firefighter

The City of Wayzata is seeking paid-on-call Firefighters to provide fire suppression activities, rescue, hazardous material, and emergency medical services.

A Community Focus

WFD prides itself on our partnership with the Wayzata community. We foster this relationship with community involvement activities such as Night to Unite, Light Up the Lake Festival Parade of Lights Fire Truck Parade, Kiddie Parade, Mini Olympics, Public Safety Day Open House, and our Annual Community Pancake Breakfast.

A Strong Department of 30

WFD is authorized for 30 paid-oncall firefighters operating out of one fire station. The Department covers approximately a five square mile area including the City of Wayzata and the City of Woodland . WFD responds to approximately 300 calls for service per year. We operate with three engines, one ladder truck, one heavy rescue, one tanker, two utility vehicles, and two boats.

A Weekly Commitment

WFD meets on Monday nights with a minimum of  36 meetings and trainings per year.
