Public health remains our top priority during the COVID-19 pandemic. After reviewing this important project objectively and evaluating all the risks, we are confident we can move forward with proper safeguards and precautions to protect the health of construction workers and Wayzata residents. This project includes vital infrastructure improvements along Lake Street, which is why we are electing to proceed at this time. We are confident we can move forward now without creating undue financial burden for our businesses and residents. We know this is a difficult time with many businesses having to reduce services or close. Breaking ground on this project now will lessen the impact on businesses and allow us to complete the work at an accelerated pace.
The following construction work and road closures will take place in the coming weeks:
- Construction signs will be placed and preparation work will begin on Friday, March 27.
- Eastbound Lake Street will be closed from Ferndale Road to Barry Avenue starting Monday, March 30. It will become a one-way street, allowing only westbound traffic.
- Lake Street will be closed from Walker Avenue to Broadway Avenue starting Friday, April 10.
Panoway on Wayzata Bay is an important initiative for our community, and we are committed to moving forward in a way that is safe and minimizes impacts to our residents and businesses.
