With the nice spring weather, Lake Street construction continues to progress smoothly. In the coming week, crews will:

  • Install sidewalks between Barry Avenue and Ferndale Street
  • Pour curb and gutter at the Broadway Avenue and Lake Street intersection
  • Begin demolishing the sidewalk between Walker and Broadway avenues
  • Remove pavement between Minnetonka and Barry avenues

This week, the City of Wayzata authorized crews to work overtime when needed to accelerate the timeline for the Lake Street construction project. The goal is to minimize disruption for downtown businesses as Governor Walz loosens restrictions on non-essential business operations.

Pedestrians can access businesses using the sidewalks on the north side of the road. Parking is available in the municipal parking lots off of Broadway and Walker avenues. Please follow the posted detour signs and refer to the detour map below.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is resuming work on the County Road 101 bridge next week. Watch for lane closures in both directions on Highway 12 from May 18-May 22 so crews can work safely.

Highway 12 east will be reduced to one lane between Wayzata Boulevard and Bushaway Road from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Highway 12 west will be reduced to one lane between Wayzata Boulevard and I-494 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There may also be lane closures on the bridge to allow crews to stripe the roadway.
