Construction Projects

Panoway on Wayzata Bay (Phase 1) – Lake Street (Broadway Ave to Ferndale Rd)

In the last couple of weeks, the contractor has completed the installation of underground utilities throughout the project and is now constructing new street curbs, sidewalks and the bike trail throughout the project. Construction of the new Plaza Park continues as does construction of the street lighting system.

Westbound Lake Street is open to traffic between Broadway and Walker avenues only. Eastbound Lake Street is closed to allow construction crews access to the new Plaza Park area.

Lake Street between Walker  and Barry avenues will remained closed through the end of July. Businesses on Lake Street are accessible to pedestrians and there is ample parking available on adjacent side streets and at the Mill Street Parking Ramp.

Eastbound Lake Street, between Ferndale Rd and Barry Ave remains closed to motorists while westbound is open to motorists. Construction of sidewalks and the trail will continue during the next few weeks.

Construction continues on the restrooms at the Lake Street Plaza Park

Please Use the Sidewalks on Lake Street

When visiting Downtown Wayzata, please use sidewalks where they are available. The streets are for construction crews and large equipment and pose a safety threat to pedestrians. There are many safety hazards that exist on the Wayzata Panoway construction site, which is why the site has been fenced, and the public is not permitted to enter the site.

The posted detour routes for motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians are the safest routes around the construction zone. Using the railroad corridor is also prohibited and walking or biking in the railroad corridor is considered trespassing. Please use the designated detour routes instead. For more detailed information about the detour routes, including maps, visit NavigateWayzata.com.

Sealcoating City Streets Begins July 6

The City’s sealcoating project will begin Mon., July 6. The contractor will begin on the core downtown streets (Mill Street, Broadway Ave, Rice Street, etc.), as well as the City Hall parking lot. With good weather, the project should be completed by July 10.  We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation. Crews will sweep up the excess sealcoat rock, beginning Mon., July 13. Street and parking lot striping will begin soon after the sealcoating is done. Drive safely.
