Panoway on Wayzata Bay - Construction Updates

Construction Progress and Updated Timelines

Construction continues at the new Lake Street Plaza Park, including work on the landscaping, shade structure, interactive water feature, as well as the exterior of the public restroom facilities. As the project nears substantial completion, the following important milestones are anticipated:
  • Pave bike trail 8/31/2020
  • Pave base course from Barry to Manitoba 9/7/2020
  • Pave wear course from Broadway to Barry 9/8/2020
  • Stripe Lake Street and bike trail 9/9/2020-9/10/2020
  • Open Lake Street completely 9/11/2020
  • Plaza area open to the public 9/11/2020 (some minor work will occur in the plaza after 9/11, see below)
After Lake Street opens, important but minimal work will still need to be completed including installing metal fins on the exterior of the restroom building, installing the catenary lighting system near the restroom building, assembling site furnishings (chairs, tables, bike racks, etc.), and completing work adjacent to the railroad crossings at Barry and Ferndale.

Landscaping and Restroom Facility Design

Major work on the new public restrooms has been completed. The need for the public restroom facilities were identified during the 10-year public engagement process that has resulted in Panoway on Wayzata Bay. Currently, residents and visitors do not have any easily accessible restroom options and must rely on businesses and restaurants. To alleviate this burden on downtown businesses, a two-stall unisex public restroom was included in the Panoway construction plans.

Check out the following video below to learn more about the landscaping and get a look at what the public restroom facilities will look like when complete. https://youtu.be/OZR1H6WmsmM

Promenade of Wayzata Analysis

An application was submitted for a proposal that clarifies the list of permitted uses at the Promenade of Wayzata at 801 Lake St E. With the changing market demands for retail, there is increased interest for office, dental, and other service-oriented tenants in these spaces. The applicant is not planning any major changes to the buildings. This review process will clarify the types of land uses permitted at this location.

No Bags Allowed at Compost Site

The City recently had the compost site removed and processed. With a fresh pile, it is important to remember that per ordinance #583, residents are required to unbag all materials. Empty bags should be taken home for reuse or disposal.

Only soft-bodied yard waste (such as grass and leaves) are permitted. No brush, stumps, branches, plastic bags, paper bags, etc. will be allowed. Brush must be taken to the Plymouth Yard Waste Site.

Free wood chips are available at the site for residents who have a permit. You must load your own wood chips. Public Works employees cannot help load wood chips.
