Lake Street & Plaza Park Open at Noon Today!

As of noon today, the project has been substantially completed! While the project is substantially complete, some remaining work needs to be completed on the exterior finishes of the restroom building, landscaping, the railroad crossings at Barry Avenue and Ferndale Road, and the catenary lighting system at Broadway Avenue. The impact to businesses and residents as crews complete these last items will be minimal. Thank you for your patience as we completed this critical project for our community. Not only were we able to make important investments in infrastructure by upgrading our utilities, sidewalks and bike lanes, but we were also able to create a world-class park that will provide greater public access to the lake, improve the lakeside ecosystem and keep our downtown commerce vibrant. We hope you head downtown and enjoy the new and improved Lake Street and Plaza Park this weekend!

Thank You First Responders

Every year the Wayzata Fire Department hangs an American flag in remembrance of September 11 from the bridge over Hwy 12 off the ladder truck during the morning and afternoon commutes. We join the rest of the nation in remembering those who lost their lives in the attacks and the first responders who died fighting to save them.

Metro Transit Update

To balance lower demand and fewer resources Metro Transit is focusing service on highest ridership routes and in communities most reliant on transit. As a result, on September 12, they will be operating about 90% of their local bus and LRT service, but commuter and express service will remain at about 25% and 55 bus routes will continue to be suspended. In Wayzata, service on Route 645 will be improved to approximately it’s pre-COVID level while Routes 672 and 677 will continue to be suspended. Metro Transit will continue to make decisions based on public health, ridership, budget constraints and customer feedback.

Census

Census 2020

The results of this once-a-decade count determine the number of seats each state has in the House of Representatives. They are also used to draw congressional and state legislative districts.
Over the next decade, the 2020 Census data will be used to make critical decisions. The results will show where communities need new schools, new clinics, new roads, and more services for families, older adults, and children.
The results will also inform how hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding are allocated. Please participate in this important study to make an impact. Responses are due by September 30.
