Try Out New Water Feature in Plaza Park!This new interactive and family friendly addition to Plaza Park is now available daily from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. It has potable water and surface lighting make it safe to play in. Water can be activated with the on/off button on the ground, by bare hand or foot. Instructional signage will be installed in the near future.

The Muni - Temporarily Closed The Wayzata Bar and Grill closed last week to conduct preventative sanitizing and contract tracing of recent positive COVID tests among employees. The Muni will remain closed to allow additional time for employees to receive test results and complete quarantine periods. It will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so. Candidates for House 33A, Senate 33, and Wayzata City Council participated to engage and inform our community in advance of the upcoming election. Recordings of those forums are now available. Absentee VotingEarly/absentee voting started on September 18, 2020. You may vote early by absentee ballot in person at City Hall, online at www.mnvotes.org, or call the Hennepin County Election office at 612-348-5151. To inquire about the status of your online ballot click here.
Ballots requested by mail may be returned via mail or dropped off in City Hall. For more options such as curbside voting, please contact elections staff at 952-404-5303.

Community Feedback WantedThe Wayzata Police Department is preparing to start a body camera program in 2020. Public input is one of the important factors in this process, so we want to hear from you! You can review the proposed body camera policy here.
Let us know what you think about the policy by taking a brief survey here. (The deadline to respond is October 12, 2020. You can also provide feedback at a public hearing at the October 6, 2020 City Council meeting.

Community DevelopmentRecovery for Lake Street BusinessesThe City’s Lake Street Business District was selected as a recovery zone for assistance from Hennepin County. The City and Forecast Public Art are now reviewing 100 responses from a recent survey, and deciding on strategies that make people feel comfortable and safe visiting the Lake Street area in fall and winter. This work is being done in time for Small Business Saturday on November 28. The City is working closely with the Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce. It is funded by the Federal CARES Act.

Public Works Update "Be Pink" Lighting Around TownThe Parks Department has been installing “Be Pink” lighting in several areas across the City, in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Maintenance ActivitiesThe City’s Street Department is working on maintenance of several stormwater drainage areas and is installing drain tile at the low end of Margaret Circle Park. They have also been doing general fall cleanup, and preparing the City’s gardens for winter. Electric Car Charging Stations
Beginning September 15, 2020 the electric car charging stations will no longer be free to use. There will be a $1.00 per hour fee for charging. This fee for use is necessary to help offset the cost of electricity that the City provides for this service.

Utility Work to Be Completed by OctoberIn July, Universal Services began installing utility lines for Comcast in Wayzata. Currently, they are working along Wayzata Blvd, Gleason Lake Road, and the T.H. 12 North Frontage Road. Work in this area is expected to be completed in October.

Community Feedback NeededSubmit Your Input on Regional Trail DevelopmentThe Three Rivers Park District (TRPD) is working on a Master Plan project to extend a regional trail from Wayzata to the Rogers/Dayton area and is now ready for public outreach and comments. TRPD is soliciting and accepting comments from Wayzata on the potential trail options for the future regional trail.
