DMV

DMV is Temporarily Closed

Due to unforeseen circumstances related to COVID-19, the DMV (Motor Vehicle Department) will be closed to the public until further notice. Thank you for your understanding. The tentative reopen date will be December 14th. Stay tuned for updates.

Please Note: Drop Box Services are Temporarily Closed as well. These operations will continue when the DMV reopens.

Tonight's Light Up the Lake Celebration Event is Canceled

As a reminder, tonight's Light Up the Lake event is canceled. However, we encourage you to come safely visit Lake Street tomorrow, Saturday November 28th for Small Businesses Saturday and throughout the holiday season to enjoy beautiful and enhanced lighting, get your holiday shopping done at our local retailers and grab some food to take home from our delicious local restaurants. Distance socially and support locally! We look forward to gathering again when we can.

Small Business Relief Fund

The application for additional relief funding is now live! Restaurants, bars, gyms and event/entertainment venues that are impacted by COVID-19 can apply for this local funding opportunity. The deadline to apply is next week, Tuesday December 1 at noon.

Boat Lottery Application is Live

Apply now for the City maintained 100 boat slip marina located at Barry Avenue and Grove Lane. Applications are limited to one per residence. The deadline for applications and new permit applications is the first Tuesday in February. The 2020 lottery will take place on the first Tuesday in March.

Take our survey on development and architecture! The City is updating its Design Standards and we want your input. Take this 5 minute survey. It will be open for input through the end of the year. The results will be reviewed by the Zoning Study Task Force in January.

Energy Action Plan Under Review in December

The City has worked with Xcel Energy’s Partners in Energy program to write an Energy Action Plan (EAP). The EAP outlines the ways that the City can reduce energy consumption, increase energy efficiency, improve on energy education, and implement renewable energy strategies. It will be reviewed by the City Council in December.

Plan Denied for 200 Lake Street East (TCF Building) 

The Planning Commission recommended denial of the development application for 200 Lake Street East (formerly TCF headquarters) at the public hearing on November 16. This item is tentatively scheduled for review by the City Council on December 15.

Public Works Update

Resident Snow Removal Responsibilities

Winter is upon us! Please review these two important reminders of snow removal responsibilities that Wayzata residents and property owners have.

  • Snow can only be placed adjacent to your own property, when clearing your driveway. It cannot be pushed across the street and it may not be deposited down the street. Please share this with anyone that may performing snow removal duties for your property.

  • Section 305 of the Wayzata City Code details additional requirements for the cleaning of sidewalks. Details included in link below.

Klapprich Park Hockey Rink & Dog Park Repairs are Complete

The City has finalized the repairs to the hockey rink boards. The dog park is now open, until we flood the rink later in December, hopefully.
