Love Local Initiative

In response to the challenging economic impacts of COVID-19 on small businesses, Hennepin County is working with 11 cities, Wayzata being one, to roll out the Love Local Initiative, an effort using county-allocated CARES Act funding to encourage people to shop at their local business districts while following COVID-19 safety guidelines during the colder months ahead.

What are the Snow Globes?

You may have noticed that a few snow globe structures have been added to Lake Street. These globes are a part of the Hennepin County business district recovery and will be safely open to the public to explore, sit and enjoy soon. However, with Governor Walz's new mandate, the globes will locked until further notice for the safety of the community. But, good news! These will be visually used in a new and exciting way next week. Stay tuned.

Public Hearing for 555 Bushaway Road

The Wayzata Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to consider a development application for a proposed subdivision at 555 Bushaway Road. There are currently four separate parcels in this area that will be combined into two parcels. The future use of these parcels is proposed to hold two single-family residences, one on each lot. The homes would have a driveway entrance onto Bushaway Road.

Public Hearing for Fence near 600 Rice St. E

The Wayzata Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to consider a development application for a proposed seven foot tall fence located in the rear parking lot at the Wayzata City Hall, 600 Rice St E. The fence would be located around a number of the parking stalls in the parking lot for safety reasons for the Police vehicles. There would also be a mechanical gate that would allow access to the parking stalls. This fence height requires a Conditional Use Permit to construct.

Public Works Update

Skating Rinks Will Open Soon

The Parks Department is taking advantage of the recent drop in temperatures to begin preparing the City’s ice rinks for use over the winter months. Klapprich field and Margaret Circle Park will be flooded in the coming days, however the ice will not be completely frozen until we have consistent freezing day-time temperatures, and the Parks Department still has work to do to prepare the rinks for public use. There will be signs posted that indicate to stay off the ice until the rinks are officially opened.  We know you are eager to skate, but the more time our staff has to properly prepare the rinks for public use, the better the quality of the ice will be. Thank you in advance for your patience!
