Public Works Update

2021 Construction Projects in the City of Wayzata

Hollybrook Pond Maintenance
This project will include excavating sediments that have accumulated in the pond over time, and removing the material from the site. This project is expected to begin in late January, and be completed by mid-March.

Circle A Drive and Hollybrook Road Sidewalk Construction
Concrete sidewalks will be constructed along the north side of Hollybrook Road, and along the west side of Circle A Drive. This project will also include the installation of storm sewer pipes and structures and the relocation of some fire hydrants along the north side of Hollybrook Road, to make room for the sidewalk. Construction is expected to begin in May, and be completed before the end of August.

2021 Bituminous Mill & Overlay
Select streets within the City of Wayzata will receive new bituminous surfacing during the summer of 2021. Streets to be milled and re-paved with bituminous asphalt include:

  • Barry Avenue South

  • Benton Avenue

  • Benton Alley

  • Indian Mound Street (west of Walker Avenue)

  • Minnetonka Avenue South

  • Shady Lane

  • Shadyway Road

Construction may occur as soon as May, and will be completed before the end of August, however disruptions to traffic on any given street will be limited to a 2-week period.

Klapprich Park and Wayzata Beach Playground Area Reconstruction

The Park and Trail Board has been working to hire a consultant to assist with designing and constructing new playground equipment at Klapprich Park (planned for 2021), and for Wayzata Beach (planned for 2022). In the coming weeks, the Park and Trail Board will be evaluating proposals and selecting a consultant. There will be opportunity for public input during the design process. The existing playground equipment at both parks is over 25 years old, does not meet current accessibility requirements, and is at the end of its useful life.
