Hydrant Flushing Begins This Weekend

Public Works will be flushing water mains and fire hydrants throughout the City from Sunday evening, April 18th through Thursday evening, April 29th, weather permitting. This will be completed starting at 10:00 PM and stopping at 6:00 AM. The flushing process may temporarily cause your water to become discolored, and residents are advised to be observant while washing clothes until after the flushing has been completed. If discolored water is present, run the cold water faucets only until the water runs clear.

Randy’s Environmental Services was acquired by Republic Services, an industry leader in U.S. recycling and non-hazardous solid waste disposal with existing operations in the Twin Cities. Through the agreement, Republic Services acquired all of the assets of Randy’s, including contracts with cities to provide recycling and waste services. Public Works Update

The Street Department Has Begun Pothole Patching on City Streets.

Patching in the winter and spring months is done with a material called “cold mix” which is more workable at cold winter temperatures.  Regular city pothole patching with “hot mix” asphalt begins in May when asphalt plants re-open for the season.  Hot mix asphalt is more durable than cold mix asphalt and provides a more permanent repair of potholes.
