Racially Restrictive Covenants in Wayzata & Plymouth Neighborhoods (Part II)In the first session on May 13th, we heard a brief summary of the history and legacy of racially restrictive covenants in Wayzata and Plymouth Neighborhoods. Join us for a follow up session, on June 17th, where we will discuss the current impacts that racial covenants still have on our communities and dive deeper into the Just Deeds Coalition, who help property owners discharge discriminatory covenants and provide education opportunities that help communities acknowledge this history.

Become a Night to Unite Block Party Host for Your NeighborhoodNeighborhoods across Wayzata have been gathering to celebrate Night to Unite for more than 40 years! On August 3rd, there will be a kickoff luncheon (more details to come). Later that evening, Wayzata Police, Fire, City staff, elected officials, and McGruff, will visit neighborhood parties throughout Wayzata and Long Lake. Along with the police cars and fire trucks, there will be trinkets for kids and a crime prevention message at each stop. This is a great time to ask questions of elected officials, police officers, firefighters, and City staff.

State Offers Vaccine RewardsThe State of Minnesota is offering rewards for the first 100,000 Minnesotans, aged 12 and older, who get their first COVID-19 vaccine between May 27 through June 30, 2021. Rewards include passes to the Minnesota State Fair, baseball games, Valleyfair and more. The rewards request form will be open on this page from June 1 through June 30.

Farmer's Market Has ReturnedThe Wayzata Farmer's Market returned to Lake Street last week. The market will take place from 1:30 - 5:30 p.m. on Thursdays at 850 Lake Street North at the Promenade.
The market will continue throughout the summer, every Thursday, through September 30th.

The proposed plans require a Planned Unit Development General Plan and Design Review. Development Application Submitted for 16100 Wayzata BlvdA development application has been submitted from the applicant EFN Wayzata Properties, LLC for a variance to place over 150 square feet of total sign area at 16100 Wayzata Boulevard. The sign area would include the existing pylon signs on the site and the proposed signs on the exterior façade of the building. The current site is under construction to update the exterior façade.This application is scheduled for a public hearing at the June 21, 2021 Planning Commission Meeting. Click here for more informationDevelopment Application Submitted for 520, 524, 530, 534 Rice Street EastA development application has been submitted for the development of the Rice Street Townhomes at 520, 524, 530, and 534 Rice Street East. The proposed project would construct four total townhome units in two separate buildings. A Planned Unit Development (PUD) and Development Agreement was approved for these properties in 2006. The applicant proposes to construct the buildings in a similar manner as the approved plans with a few modifications. The Planning Commission recommended denial of this application at the public hearing on June 7, 2021. Public Works UpdatePanoway Interactive Water FeatureThe Panoway Interactive Water Feature opened on Friday, May 28. It will be operational from 8am – 8pm, daily. Please note: the activation button requires the touch of a bare foot or bare hand.
McCormick’s Beachside Concession - NOW OPEN! The McCormick’s concession stand opened at Wayzata Beach on Tuesday, June 1. Their menu will consist of Hamburgers, Hotdogs, Chili Cheese Dogs, Lobster Rolls, Fresh Squeezed Lemonade, and Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Possible Construction Impacts This MonthGas Main Pipe ReplacementsCenterPoint Energy will be replacing gas main pipes along the streets indicated in the map to the left until the end of June. Click Here to View Map Circle A Sidewalk Complete & Hollybrook Road Sidewalk Begins
The construction of a sidewalk along Circle A Dive is nearly complete. The contractor has now begun utility work on Hollybrook Road to make room for the sidewalk in that location. This project will start beginning June 16th and will be completed late July.

MnDOT Highway 12 Maintenance near CR 101 and Gleason Lake RoadMnDOT Crews will by laying an aggregate layer to get a little more life out of the road. This will require the road to be reduced to two lanes between Central Ave/County Road 101 and Gleason Lake Road from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly June 1-15. Crews will have to come back at the end of June to put down stripes during off-peak hours.
