Snow Removal & Emergency Information

snow blower

Winter Snow Removal

Winter is upon us! Please review these snow removal responsibilities that Wayzata residents and property owners have.

  1. Snow from privately owned property may only be placed adjacent to your own property, when clearing your driveway. It cannot be pushed across the street and it may not be deposited elsewhere.
  2. Section 305 of the Wayzata City Code details additional requirements for the cleaning of sidewalks.
plow

Parking Ordinance and Regulations during Snow Emergencies

If the snowfall is 2 or more inches before 8 p.m., the snow parking regulations go into effect at 2:00 a.m. the next morning. At that time, snow plowing will begin and any vehicles parked on unplowed streets will be tagged and/or towed.

If an accumulation of 2 inches or more occurs after 8 p.m., the snow parking ban will go into effect the following morning at 2 a.m. (24 hours later).

If there is an accumulation of snow after 8 p.m., plowing may occur. Cars parked on the street will not be tagged, but cars may be plowed in. The parking ban shall remain in effect until the snow has been removed or plowed to the curb line.

Public Works Update

Wayzata Skating Rinks Update

Last week, the Wayzata Parks Department began preparing the City’s ice rinks for use over the winter months. Klapprich Field and Margaret Circle Park were flooded last week however the ice is not yet completely frozen, and the rinks are not yet ready for use. The rinks will remain closed until we have consistent freezing day-time temperatures, and the Parks Department can complete preparation of the rinks for public use.

Please stay off the ice until the rinks officially open for the season. Skating on them too soon will lower the quality of the ice. Thank you for your patience!
