Section Foreman House

Section Foreman House Community Meeting 

Tuesday March 15 | 4:30 – 6 PM | Wayzata City Hall

The Section Foreman House is proposed to be rehabilitated for reuse as a new vibrant lakefront learning center providing indoor and outdoor classroom and community space as part of the Panoway project and proposed Eco Park. This will be a discussion about the current design plans for the Section Foreman House (behind Stalk & Spade between the railroad tracks and the lake).

Community Wide Survey Starts Next Week

The City of Wayzata is partnering with Morris Leatherman Company to conduct a comprehensive community survey, to gather opinions and resident feedback regarding quality of life, ratings of City services, and current and future needs in the City. The survey will take 3 weeks to complete.

Community Development Update


City Zoning Code Updates

Zoning Code Updates Public Hearing
City staff is proposing changes to the residential and commercial zoning districts within the City Code. The changes are intended to align the zoning code with the Comprehensive Plan. The second of two public hearings in front of the Planning Commission regarding these changes will take place on March 7.

Proposals Under Review

Wayzata Beach Club (200 Lake Street)
A development application has been submitted by the applicant Lake West Development for a project at 200 Lake Street, the former TCF Bank corporate headquarters. The initial public hearing for the proposal took place at the February 7 meeting, with the Planning Commission recommending denial of the proposal. The City Council hearing is scheduled for April 5.

445 Bovey Road
A development application has been submitted by the applicant 688 Bryant LLC for a variance to construct a driveway. The variance would allow the driveway to encroach upon a 10-foot side yard setback. The driveway is intended to serve a future single-family home on the site. The Planning Commission hearing is scheduled for February 28. The City Council meeting is tentatively scheduled for March 22.

150 Broadway Ave S
A development application has been submitted by the applicant Langdon View, LLC for a project at 150 Broadway Ave S, the former Sathre-Bergquist office. The initial public hearing for the proposal will take place at the Planning Commission meeting on March 21.

1022 Wayzata Blvd E

A development application has been submitted for a Caribou Cabin/Urban Wok to replace the vacant gas station building at 1022 Wayzata Blvd E.  A neighborhood meeting to discuss this project will be held March 3 at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall. The initial public hearing with the Planning Commission is anticipated to be March 21.

301 Peavey Lane

The Blake School is scheduled to close in the summer of 2023. A development application has been submitted by the applicant BohLand Homes for the redevelopment of the property. The proposal is for a cul-de-sac with 15 single-family homes. A neighborhood meeting will be held by the applicant at City Hall on Thursday, March 17 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., and the initial public hearing with the Planning Commission is scheduled for March 21.

Seasonal Road Restrictions

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will start spring load restrictions in the METRO frost zone on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 12:01 AM. Therefore, the City of Wayzata’s Seasonal Road Restrictions will also go into effect on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 12:01 A.M.

Wayzata Skating Rinks

Due to the recent warm temperatures and the forecasted warm temperatures, Klapprich Park and Margaret Circle Park ice skating rinks have closed for the season. Thank you to everyone for another great season!
