wayata k9 on the mayor minutes podcast at the sailing center

Welcome to Wayzata's First Search & Rescue Dog, Loki!

The Wayzata Police Department is implementing a new K9 Program! This program was created with the idea of placing two well trained and certified dogs on patrol to enhance the abilities of patrol officers and also increase the services the City and department can provide to members of the community. The first phase of this includes welcoming Sergeant Jason Gehrman’s dog, Loki, an 18 month old Belgian Malinois. Jason's badge # has always been 6 and we are excited to welcome #6.5!

Loki is the only on duty search and rescue dog with a police department in the state of Minnesota and is specifically trained in tracking and trailing for a specific live scent. He has been specially trained over a vast period of time in order to intake a specifics person’s scent, in which he was in contact with, and locate the subsequent scent trail left by that individual.
