Development Proposal for 900 Wayzata Blvd (Wells Fargo)
A development application has been approved for 900 Wayzata Blvd, currently home to a Wells Fargo bank. The project team is proposing a 67-unit apartment building, 9 attached townhomes, a 34,000 square foot office building, and a 5,500 square foot Wells Fargo bank. The majority of parking will be underground.

The City Council voted 4-1 to approve the proposal at their July 19 meeting.

Proposals Under Review

NEW – 341 Ramsey Road
A revised development application has been submitted at 341 Ramsey Road for an attached garage requiring variances for rear yard setback, hardcover, and lot coverage. The owners previously submitted a similar application that was recommended for denial by the Planning Commission this spring. The revised application for the garage requires one less variance.

The Planning Commission will discuss the application at their August 15 meeting.

830 Lake St (Baja Haus) – Patio Application
A development application has been submitted for Baja Haus, a restaurant located in the Village Shoppes at 830 Lake St E. Baja Haus is seeking to create a yearly patio that occupies four parking spaces outside the restaurant. The previous patio was permitted under the City’s pandemic relief policies.

The Planning Commission recommended approval at their July 18 meeting.

1022 Wayzata Boulevard – Revised Application
A revised development application has been submitted at 1022 Wayzata Blvd, the former gas station next to Edina Realty. The applicant is proposing to combine the northern and southern parcels and pursue a rezoning/Comprehensive Plan Amendment in order to support a future retail tenant. The previous proposal for this property, for a Caribou Cabin/Urban Wok, was denied earlier this year.

The Planning Commission recommended approval at their July 18 meeting.

344 Ferndale Road North – Subdivision
A development application has been submitted at 344 Ferndale Road North, currently the site of one single family home. The owners propose to split the existing lot into two, keep their current house, and build a new home on the second parcel. A detached garage would be demolished.

The Planning Commission will discuss the application at their August 1st meeting.

We Want Your Feedback!
Neighborhood Meeting - Ferndale Road Sidewalk
Public Works will be holding a neighborhood meeting on Thursday, August 4 at 5:30 p.m. to solicit feedback on two potential sidewalk options for the segment of Ferndale Road between Lake Street and Wayzata Blvd. This segment is a critical north-south corridor for pedestrians and cyclists and is a direct route between the Dakota Rail Regional Trail and the Luce Line Trail.

The meeting will be held in the City Council Chambers at Wayzata City Hall.

Far Hill Road Sanitary Sewer Lift Station Repairs
A contractor has been hired to assist with rehabilitating the sanitary sewer lift station at 539 Far Hill Road. Repairs are scheduled to occur during the first two weeks of August, weather permitting. Repairs include excavating and replacing underground equipment, and removing and re-installing the service cabinet that is visible above ground. Sanitary sewer service to residents in the area will not be affected.

Verizon Wireless Installing Small-Cell Equipment

Verizon Wireless will be installing small-cell wireless antenna equipment on several City-owned street light poles. The installation of the first of five antennas has begun in the southeast corner of Lake Street East & Minnetonka Avenue South. Verizon has replaced the existing street light pole with a structurally reinforced pole that has a similar appearance to the existing pole. The additional antenna equipment will extend approximately 10 feet higher than the street light pole.
