Using Too Much Salt on Driveways & Sidewalks Can Harm Lake MinnetonkaWhen snow and ice melts on hard surfaces, it runs into storm drains that flow into lakes, ponds and wetlands. This means, when snow and ice melt off of your house and driveway this winter, the salt will go with it and will ultimately flow into Lake Minnetonka! When you over salt your driveway and sidewalk, it pollutes our water supply.

A Delay in Clearing Snow from SidewalksThe Public Works Department uses a variety of equipment to perform routine snow removal on the City’s streets and sidewalks in the winter months. Unfortunately, some of the key pieces of equipment that are used for sidewalk snow removal have experienced mechanical break-downs in the past week. Public Works is working quickly to procure and replace the necessary parts, but there may be a delay in clearing all city sidewalks.
Thank you for your patience and understanding!
