Panoway Construction Documents Approved

After extensive community engagement, on January 10, 2023, the Wayzata City Council approved the construction documents of Panoway Phase 2A (Boardwalk & Docks) and Phase 2B (Section Foreman House). 

This approval completes the construction document phase for these elements of the Panoway project and moves them into the public bidding phase. Next steps are to finalize funding for the boardwalk and move forward with construction later this year.

Be Prepared for a Winter Driving Emergency

With winter temps and wind chills dropping below 0° this week, it is important to prepare a winter emergency kit for your vehicle. Here are a few recommended items to have in your vehicle:

  • Winter clothing (jacket, hat and mittens)
  • Blanket
  • Snacks and water
  • Portable Phone Charger
  • Shovel
  • Sand or Cat litter
  • Flashlight with spare batteries

Due to lack of participation and appointments made, the mobile mammography unit on January 31 is canceled.

Bash by the Bay Event Tonight, January 27

This fundraising cocktail mixer, Bash by the Bay, takes place tonight, January 27, from 6: 00 - 10:00 p.m.  and will feature music from Powertap and Chris Kroeze! 

Hosted by Lake West Development, LLC, proceeds will benefit Interfaith Outreach & Community Partners.

Sign Up for Maple Tree Tapping

The Wayzata Parks and Trails Board is organizing a return to in-person Maple Tree Tapping at the Big Woods! Individuals and families will learn how to tap trees, collect sap and boil it down to make real maple syrup that can be taken home. The event is typically held in March, weather dependent.

The Wayzata Area Chamber is hosting a Pre Par-Tee on Friday February 10. This event will kickoff the Wayzata Chilly Open weekend and will feature live music from the band High & Mighty, food trucks and refreshments in the heated 19th Hole Tent.

Proposals Under Review

New - Wayzata Country Club Parking Lot
The Wayzata Country Club has submitted a proposal to improve their parking lot, which requires an impervious surface variance. The Planning Commission will consider the application at their February 6 meeting.  


1030 Lake St E – Subdivision 
Applicant Black Dog Homes has applied for a subdivision at 1030 Lake St E. The parcel currently has one home on it and would be divided into three separate properties for three future homes. The Planning Commission recommended denial of the application at their January 23 meeting.
 
Cantissimo Senior Living – Second Stage of Approvals 
After receiving approval for their Concept Plan in February 2022, applicant Pillar Homes has submitted a more detailed development application for a Planned Unit Development General Plan at 15419/15429 Wayzata Blvd and 1405 Holdridge Terrace. Cantissimo Senior Living is a proposed memory care facility with up to 40 residents. The project also includes requests for a variance, rezoning, and design deviations. The Planning Commission recommended approval of the application at their January 23 meeting.

C-1 Zoning Text Amendment

Applicant William Cooley is proposing a zoning code text amendment for the C-1 – Office and Limited Commercial District. The text amendment limits height and increases setbacks of future buildings in the C-1 District that are near certain residential properties. The Planning Commission will consider the proposal at their February 27 meeting.


247 Central Ave S- Approved
The homeowner at 247 Central Ave S has applied for a front yard setback variance in order to construct a front porch. The Planning Commission recommended approval of the project at their December 5 meeting. The City Council approved the application at their January 18 meeting.

507 Rice St E - Approved
The homeowners at 507 Rice St E have applied for a variance to build additional living space on the north side of their home. Due to the location of the home, the proposed addition requires a front yard setback variance. The Planning Commission recommended approval of the project at their December 5 meeting. The City Council approved the application at their January 18 meeting.
