Our goal for 2023 is to continue this positive momentum, both within the organization and throughout the community, by fostering a positive work environment and striving for excellence in the public services we provide!

Take this Survey to Help Hennepin County

Hennepin County is updating the All-Hazard Mitigation Plan, as required by the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act. Local jurisdictions are required to update the plan every five years to remain eligible for pre-disaster and post-disaster mitigation grant programs. Community involvement and feedback are vital to the success of the plan.

Please complete this survey to help Hennepin County better understand your hazard concerns which can include things like flooding, storms, high winds, wildfires and more.

Proposals Under Review

NEW – Panoway Conditional Use Permits

Phase 2A of the Panoway project includes the construction of a boardwalk and new docks on Lake Minnetonka. With that, two conditional use permits are required: one to allow public recreation on the lake and another to build in the lake’s floodway. The Planning Commission will consider the application at their March 6 meeting.

Cantissimo Senior Living – Final Stage of Approvals

Pillar Homes, on behalf of owner Care Cliff LLC, has applied for a Planned Unit Development General Plan at 15419/15429 Wayzata Blvd and 1405 Holdridge Terrace. Cantissimo Senior Living is a proposed memory care facility with up to 40 residents. The project also includes requests for a variance, rezoning, and design deviations. The Planning Commission recommended approval of the application at their January 23 meeting. The City Council tabled the application at their February 21 meeting due to severe weather and will consider it on March 7 instead.

1030 Lake St E – Subdivision

Applicant Black Dog Homes has applied for a subdivision at 1030 Lake St E. The parcel currently has one home on it and would be divided into three separate properties for three future homes. The Planning Commission recommended denial of the application at their January 23 meeting. The City Council tabled the application at their February 21 meeting due to severe weather and will consider it on March 7 instead.

Preliminary Environmental Review – 565 Ferndale Road West Subdivision

Applicant Whitten Associates has submitted a development application to subdivide the 11.87-acre property into four lots. This application has not been deemed complete and is not yet on the schedule for Planning Commission and City Council review. The initial portion of the City’s review process includes an Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW), which evaluates potential impacts of development projects. This application has been added to this newsletter in order to notify interested residents that a public comment period is open for the EAW until March 9. This is not the only opportunity to comment on the proposal, just the first. Plans are likely to change between now and future Planning Commission/City Council review. The City’s website, linked below, has more information and a copy of the EAW available for download.

Wayzata Country Club Parking Lot

The Wayzata Country Club has submitted a proposal to improve their parking lot, which requires an impervious surface variance. The Planning Commission recommended approval of the application at their February 6 meeting.

For info on all development projects, please visit the development project webpage.
