Watch for EAB in Your Ash Trees

EAB (Emerald Ash Borer) was first confirmed in Wayzata two years ago and has since spread throughout the community. The City’s Parks Department has continued a multi-faceted response to this aggressive pest.

Ash trees which have lost half or more of their bark should be removed as soon as possible as they become very brittle and hazardous soon after succumbing to EAB. If you have any questions regarding the viability of your ash trees, contact the City for a free assessment at parksdepartment@wayzata.org.

For a discounted rate on treatment, contact Rainbow Tree Care at 952 922 3810.

Phase 2A of the Panoway project includes the construction of a boardwalk and new docks on Lake Minnetonka. With that, two conditional use permits are required: one to allow public recreation on the lake and another to build in the lake’s floodway. The Planning Commission recommended approval at their March 6 meeting.

Cantissimo Senior Living – Final Stage of Approvals

Pillar Homes, on behalf of owner Care Cliff LLC, has applied for a Planned Unit Development General Plan at 15419/15429 Wayzata Blvd and 1405 Holdridge Terrace. Cantissimo Senior Living is a proposed memory care facility with up to 40 residents. The project also includes requests for a variance, rezoning, and design deviations. The Planning Commission recommended approval of the application at their January 23 meeting. The City Council approved the application at their March 7 meeting.

1030 Lake St E – Subdivision

Applicant Black Dog Homes has applied for a subdivision at 1030 Lake St E. The parcel currently has one home on it and would be divided into three separate properties for three future homes. The Planning Commission recommended denial of the application at their January 23 meeting. At their meeting on March 7th, the City Council voted to approve the subdivision at their next meeting.

Preliminary Environmental Review – 565 Ferndale Road West Subdivision

Applicant Whitten Associates has submitted a development application to subdivide the 11.87-acre property into four lots. This application has not been deemed complete and is not yet on the schedule for Planning Commission and City Council review. Though the initial comment period for the environmental assessment worksheet (EAW) is now over, there will be future opportunities to review and comment on the full proposal before it is deemed complete. The City Council will review the EAW at their April 18 meeting. Please refer to the project webpage for a full project timeline.

Wayzata Country Club Parking Lot

The Wayzata Country Club has submitted a proposal to improve their parking lot, which requires an impervious surface variance. The Planning Commission recommended approval of the application at their February 6 meeting.
