Wayzata Boulevard Corridor Study

Four Key Takeaways were developed from the initial draft of the Wayzata Boulevard Corridor Study.  The categories for each takeaway were:

  • Land Use & Development
  • Safety Improvements
  • Transportation & Mobility
  • Public Realm

Key Takeaway #1 : Land Use & Development

Future development in Wayzata is guided by the rules and regulations that we create today. Community feedback has highlighted that along the Wayzata Boulevard Corridor, these should be the priorities for land use and development:

  • Retaining everyday service uses, like grocery stores, pharmacies, and banks.
  • Creating a variety of housing types that are affordable.
  • Improving connections between the corridor and nearby green spaces.
  • Keeping extremely car-oriented areas limited to the east end of the corridor.

It is also anticipated that portions of the area between Central Avenue and Bushaway Road could work for future four-story buildings. However, it’s especially important that future development has the right look and feel, guided by our Design Standards.

Council will review the study later this summer.
