Sign Up for Green Bag Organics

Wayzata residents can recycle their organics through the Green Bag Organics Composting System. With the Green Bag Organics program, residents can toss food waste, and food-soiled paper (pizza boxes and paper plates), into a Green Bag Organics BPI-certified bag.

Unlike most trash bags, these liners are made to be compostable. On trash day, residents then place the Green Bag inside their regular garbage cart for curbside pickup.

Panoway Sand-Breaking Celebration

After 10+ years of planning and community engagement, construction on the 1,200-foot-long Panoway Lakewalk has finally begun! Last week we gathered with key stakeholders to celebrate this major milestone and took time to reflect on the passion, time, and commitment that drove the project.

We look forward to celebrating with the broader community upon project completion!

Transportation & Mobility Improvements to Wayzata Boulevard

Four Key Takeaways were developed from the initial draft of the Wayzata Boulevard Corridor Study.  The categories for each takeaway were:

  • Land Use & Development
  • Safety Improvements
  • Transportation & Mobility
  • Public Realm

Key Takeaway #3: Transportation & Mobility

The roadways in the Wayzata Boulevard Corridor are controlled by multiple governments. While the City has jurisdiction over some segments, the whole Central Avenue segment and all of Wayzata Boulevard between Central/Wayzata Blvd and Bushaway Road is under Hennepin County oversight. This means that redesigning the roadway itself will be a multi-year process with Hennepin County for our most congested areas.

At this time, the City is bringing to the table:

  • The extension of planted medians from Central/Wayzata Blvd out to Bushaway, in order to limit conflicting turning movements and provide more opportunities for pedestrian crossing
  • Lane width adjustments to encourage slower driving within the same area
  • Repainting Central Ave, as part of County work, planned for the near future, to test improved turning opportunities near Colonial Square.
