Avoid Package Theft This Season

'Tis the season of online holiday shopping! Deliveries will be more frequent, which makes this time of the year a prime time for package thefts to occur.

The PD recommends that you track your packages so you know when they will be arriving, invest in a ring doorbell or cameras, ship packages to a store, or request that your delivery driver leave the package at a side or back door.

Be a good neighbor by staying alert. As always, if you see suspicious activity, call 911!

snow plows

Learn About The City Plowing Process During a Snow Emergency

When cleaning up after a snowstorm, Public Works starts with clearing main roads first including major roadways in and out of town. At the same time, half of the plows begin work on neighborhoods and parking lots. Plow operators make every effort to remove snow as close to the curb line as practical to provide access for mail carriers.

Property owners are responsible for clearing the end of their driveway, snow accumulation near their mailbox, and during the first few hours of daytime following the storm, removing snow from any public sidewalk adjoining their building and/or lot.

825 Mill St E (Promenade) – Mill St Flats

The owner of Wayzata Bay Superior Retail has applied to turn the former Lunds and Byerly’s space at the Promenade’s Superior Block into first-floor apartments. Requests include a Planned Unit Development Amendment and Shoreland District Conditional Use Permit. The Planning Commission recommended approval of the application by a vote of 4-3 at their November 6 meeting. The City Council will consider the application in January.

728 Wayzata Blvd E – Fence Variances

The homeowners at 728 Wayzata Blvd E are proposing to keep an existing, illegally nonconforming fence constructed in 2022, which requires two variances due to its height and opacity. The Planning Commission recommended denial of the application at their November 20 meeting by a vote of 6-0.
