Lakewalk Stepdown Installation Update

The City’s contractor is currently planning to install the stepdown elements of the Panoway Lakewalk beginning the week of September 30. During this work, portions of the boardwalk will need to be closed to allow the contractor access to the underside of the structure. Work is estimated to be complete at the end of October.

Hennepin County to Mill and Overlay County Road 101 (Central Avenue)

Beginning Thursday, October 3 at 7:00 p.m., Hennepin County will repave Central Avenue (County Road 101) in Wayzata between County Road 12 and Wayzata Boulevard. Work is scheduled to be complete around 2:00 a.m. on Friday, October 4.

Crews will work on one side of the road at a time, and traffic will be brought through the project area using flaggers. Residents and businesses will have access, but may experience brief delays. Be alert for traffic control personnel and allow extra time. All work is weather dependent.

The project has been scheduled during overnight hours to minimize disruption to residents, businesses, and people driving. When complete, the road will have a smoother surface, along with new lane striping to improve safety for the people who drive, walk, roll, and bike here.

Thank you for your patience while we improve this important road.

Post-Construction Update on the Pavement Rejuvenation Project

The City hired Corrective Asphalt Materials, LLC to apply an asphalt rejuvenating agent to select City streets. The application occurred during the week of September 9th. The asphalt rejuvenating agent will extend the life of the pavement and is planned to be reapplied approximately every 5 – 6 years. There is no further work planned on these streets at this time, except for sweeping to collect any residual sand that is left on the streets. The streets that were treated will appear to be wet and have a temporary “dirty” appearance, which will fade over the next few weeks while the product soaks into the pavement, and natural weathering occurs.

A link to the Corrective Asphalt Materials website is included below with additional information about “What to Expect When We Spray Reclamite”.

horizontal bumpers on broadway docks

A Start to Additional Broadway & Depot Dock Improvements

We value the feedback we received this summer regarding the new Broadway docks and decided to begin testing out a new approach before summer’s end. Recently, vertical bumpers were removed on select slips on the Broadway docks and were replaced with horizontal bumpers on a trial basis.

These will be tested for the remainder of the season. The City will consider additional enhancements prior to the 2025 boating season.

If you use the new bumpers, please let us know what you think here: wayzata.org/feedback

Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority Culvert Project This September

Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority (HCRRA) will be lining culverts on a few of their corridors this month. These corridors include the Lake Minnetonka, Dakota Rail, and Minnesota River Bluffs regional trails, which are operated by Three Rivers Park District. Hennepin County expects that the impacts will be limited to when crews are on-site at the various locations. Temporary closures are anticipated but should only be for a short duration. Signage providing detour routes will be on display.
