City Showcase on Monday, October 7 - Next Week!

This event, which includes Public Safety Day and Touch-a-Truck, will take place outside at Wayzata City Hall from 4 - 6 PM on October 7th. Join us for:

  • fire demonstrations (5:30 p.m.)
  • bounce house

  • K9 demonstrations
  • Touch - a - Truck including fire trucks, squad cars, public works equipment, and more!

The process offers all interested citizens an opportunity to be considered for appointments based on their expertise. Openings on commission, authority, and boards are staggered and vary on term length. There are currently vacancies on these boards:

Fire Department Fundraiser on Oct. 11

On Friday, October 11, the Wayzata American Legion will host an all-you-can-eat broasted chicken dinner fundraiser for the Wayzata Fire Department from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. Proceeds will go to the 2nd Call Fire Relief Association. Please call 952-473-7678 for more information or questions.

Lakewalk Stepdown Installation Update

The City’s contractor is currently installing the stepdown elements of the Panoway Lakewalk. During this work, portions of the boardwalk will need to be closed to allow the contractor access to the underside of the structure. Work is estimated to be complete at the end of October.

Yard Waste & Compost Information

It’s that time of year again! When you are done cleaning up your yard, the City of Wayzata’s compost site is available for soft-bodied yard waste, such as grass and leaves. The compost site, located at Public Works, 299 Wayzata Boulevard West, is open from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (except for holidays) and is also open weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) in October and the first two weekends in November from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The compost site is for Wayzata residents only. Residents must obtain an annual beach parking and compost permit at City Hall. Please note: per City ordinance, residents are required to unbag all materials left at the compost site and take empty bags back home for reuse or disposal. Wayzata residents can take brush to the City of Plymouth Yard Waste Site. Driver’s license and proof of residency is required.

Run in the Boo Bash Dash

Join in the Halloween fun at the annual Wayzata Boo Bash Dash, a spooktacular race in downtown Wayzata, on October 26! Run or walk a certified 10k, 5k, Competitive Lake Street Mile and fun run with friends. Costumes encouraged! This event will feature finish line festivities including a pumpkin derby, costume contest, and more. Following the Boo Bash Dash will be the annual Boo Blast Celebration which will include trick or treating around town.

Solar Tour on October 6 - This Sunday!

Save the date! On Sunday, October 6 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Blue Horizon Energy and Minnesota Renewable Energy Society will host an in-person solar tour event at the Wayzata Bar and Grill. As part of the national solar tour organized by the American Solar Energy Society, this free event is perfect for anyone curious about adding solar to a property and wants to see a successful project up close. Come learn more about the five solar projects the City added to city-owned properties and have your solar energy questions answered by Blue Horizon Energy staff. Close out the event with a special solar-theme cocktail crafted inside the Wayzata Bar and Grill - The Muni.

Sign Up for Pull It Day

Get to know your neighbors while volunteering! On October 19, the Wayzata Public Works Department needs your help getting City gardens ready for winter. The morning will kickoff at the Panoway Plaza with check-in and refreshments. From there, volunteers will be dispersed to gardens in groups. Volunteers are needed from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Post-Construction Update on the Pavement Rejuvenation Project

The City hired Corrective Asphalt Materials, LLC to apply an asphalt rejuvenating agent to select City streets. The application occurred during the week of September 9th. The asphalt rejuvenating agent will extend the life of the pavement and is planned to be reapplied approximately every 5 – 6 years. There is no further work planned on these streets at this time, except for sweeping to collect any residual sand that is left on the streets. The streets that were treated will appear to be wet and have a temporary “dirty” appearance, which will fade over the next few weeks while the product soaks into the pavement, and natural weathering occurs.
