Family Skate Day - Rescheduled

A free family-friendly event at one of Wayzata's favorite parks! Due to projected below freezing temperatures this weekend, the Parks & Trails Board has rescheduled the Family Skate Day to January 26 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Klapprich Park. There will be warm drinks, music, and free youth skate rentals provided! 

This event is weather-dependent. Stay tuned for updates on skating rink openings.

Skating Rinks Now Open

Klapprich Park and Margaret Park Skating Rinks are now open! The Klapprich Park warming house and skating rink will be open with an attendant on duty, weather-permitting, weekdays from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., as well as on weekends and holidays when Wayzata Public Schools are not in session, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Mayor Monthly Meetup at the Muni

Mayor, Andrew Mullin, will be hosting casual monthly meetups at Wayzata Bar & Grill. The goal of the gatherings will be to informally connect, exchange ideas, and more. The first meetup will be on February 10, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

State of the City Address

A State of the City Address will take place at Wayzata City Hall on February 25 at 5:00 p.m. in the Community Room.

Join us prior to the program from 4:30 - 5:00 p.m. for a casual meet and greet with Wayzata’s new Mayor, Andrew Mullin! A Q & A will take place after the program with City Manager, Jeff Dahl.

The program will be recorded and available online and on WCTV following the event.

NEW – Ferndale Bluffs Subdivision 

Owner Draycott DST has applied to subdivide the 11.87-acre parcel at 565 Ferndale Rd W into three single-family parcels. The subdivision proposal includes a public street and cul-de-sac. The proposal was previously publicly reviewed in 2023 for an Environmental Assessment Worksheet and in 2024 for a 4-lot subdivision proposal. The Planning Commission will consider the application at the February 24 meeting.

R-3A Redevelopment Study 

City Council has directed staff to study the character of newly redeveloped homes in the R-3A district. The Planning Commission recommended approval of proposed code changes at their December 16 meeting. The Council will consider the changes at their January 28 meeting. Materials are available for public review in the Agenda Center and on the project webpage.

Design Standards Update 

After three years of administering the current set of architectural Design Standards for new development, City staff is bringing forward minor adjustments to the ordinance based on best practices and recent updates to the state building code. The Planning Commission Recommended approval of the changes at their December 16 meeting. The City Council will consider the changes at their January 28 meeting. Materials will be available for public review the Friday before the meeting in the Agenda Center.
