Buckthorn Removal at the Nature CenterThis week, Great River Greening, in conjunction with the City of Wayzata, has been conducting natural resource management activities in the Wayzata Nature Center property. You may see and hear machinery as this work occurs. This work will continue for 2-3 weeks. Invasive species management, specifically the removal of the invasive shrub buckthorn, is being completed to maintain the health of the forest that has established over the years on this property. This work is part of a larger ecosystem restoration effort to bring back open woodland dominated by native plant and animal species in the City of Wayzata park system. Mesic hardwood forest systems are some of the rarest plant communities in Minnesota. These plant communities were here historically and restoring native habitat is important for maintaining our natural heritage. Questions? Email nkieser@wayzata.org or call 952-404-5313.

With spring break trips coming up, here are some quick reminders to keep your home safe and secure while you are gone: - Unplug electronics that don’t need power
- To deter break-ins, put lights on around the house on timers
- Ask a neighbor to gather mail
- Check to make sure all entry points of your home are secure
- Avoid posting your trip on social media until you return
If you’re out of town for an extended period, let the Wayzata PD know by calling 952-404-5340 or emailing WayzataPD@wayzata.org and note any vehicles that will have permission to be on the property.

NEW – Waycliffe Fence Variance The Waycliffe Townhomes Association has applied to extend an existing 6’ tall, 100% opaque privacy fence across the area where Waycliffe South and Hollybrook Road meet. Please contact City Planner Valerie Quarles at vquarles@wayzata.org or 952-404-5323 with any questions or visit the project page on the website to view the plans under review.

Building Permit Under Review 641 Lake St EApplicant and property owner Marquee Place, LLC has applied to replace a portion of 641 Lake St E with a new two-story commercial structure. The white portion of the building, built in 1952, previously had Caribou Coffee and Jewelweed as tenants. The project underwent limited Design Standards Review due to its small size and is currently under typical building permit review. Since the proposed project follows all regulations of the Zoning Code, including the C-4B District height limit of 30 feet, the project does not require a public hearing at Planning Commission or review by the City Council. Work on the site is projected to start in the spring. Please contact City Planner Valerie Quarles at vquarles@wayzata.org or 952-404-5323 with any questions or visit the project page on the website to view the plans under review.
