More Access to Lake Minnetonka: Stepdowns on the Panoway Lakewalk to be Installed This Spring

One of the most anticipated design components of the 1,200 ft long lakewalk has been the installation of the community-driven “stepdowns.” Unfortunately, due to needed design tweaks, the stepdowns were not able to be installed last year.

The two stepdowns were originally designed to give even more access to the lake. Community members will now have another place to sit and even dip their toes into Lake Minnetonka! They will be installed this spring adjacent to the section of the lakewalk with benches.

The City will also be installing life preservers nearby as well as signage to indicate that fishing, swimming, and docking boats is prohibited.

Watermain & Street Rehabilitation Project

The City has hired Park Construction Company to install watermain pipes in the Central Ave S/Lake St E/Hampton Ave S neighborhood. This planned improvement to the City’s water distribution system will improve water flow in the overall system and will provide new water services for most property owners in the project area. The project also includes milling and re-paving select streets this summer, following the watermain installation work.

Construction on this project is expected to begin in May in the Central Ave S/Lake St E/Hampton Ave S neighborhood. Property owners in the affected neighborhoods will receive a letter from the City with additional information before construction begins.

If you have additional questions about this project, please contact Jen Schumann at jschumann@wayzata.org, or 952-404-5371.
