A Message from the MayorEarlier this week we celebrated a Wayzata legend: Kurt Klapprich's Retirement! It's truly hard to put into words the incredible impact Kurt Klapprich has had on the City of Wayzata and our community as he celebrates over 40 years of dedicated service! Since 1985, Kurt has been a quiet force behind the scenes, ensuring Wayzata's operations run smoothly, our infrastructure is sound, and our city always looks its best, no matter the season. His steady hand and invaluable institutional knowledge have left an indelible mark on everything we do. Kurt's commitment to Wayzata extends far beyond his city role. He's also a vital part of the Wayzata Fire Department, continuing a remarkable family legacy with five generations of service and he will continue to serve. Many know Kurt best for his passion and dedication to Wayzata Parks. In fact, one of our most beloved green spaces, Klapprich Park, is named after his grandfather, Ed, who also served our city as a street superintendent. It's clear that caring for Wayzata is truly in his blood. Kurt is simply the kind of person who is always there to help, and his passion for our community and his family shines through in everything he does. He's genuinely one-of-a-kind, and frankly, irreplaceable. With love and gratitude, Mayor Andrew Mullin

New Dock Bumpers to Be Installed on All Slips in the Coming WeeksLast summer, we heard feedback that the original dock bumper design does not serve our boaters well. The City's dock working group, which includes boaters and users of Lake Minnetonka, reviewed the feedback and came up with a new design. The new vertical bumpers have been installed on select slips on a trial basis and, based on boater feedback, are performing well. City Council has authorized the installation of the new vertical bumpers for all slips, and boaters can expect to see them in the coming weeks.

Watermain & Street Rehabilitation ProjectThe City hired Park Construction Company to install watermain pipes in the Central Ave S/Lake St E/Hampton Ave S neighborhood. This planned improvement to the City’s water distribution system will improve water flow in the overall system and will provide new water services (from the distribution main to private properties at the property line) for most property owners in the project area. In addition to the watermain work, several streets were scheduled for milling and bituminous pavement overlay. Construction on this project is now substantially complete however the contractor continues to wrap up restoration items and final clean-up. If you have additional questions about this project, please contact Jen Schumann at jschumann@wayzata.org, or 952-404-5371. Click here to learn more
