A Message from Mayor Mullin

I'm writing to inform you about a policy change from the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office (HCAO): They have begun a policy of not prosecuting some felony crimes that are uncovered during stops for minor traffic infractions, often called "pretextual" stops. The Wayzata City Council and Administration stand in full support of our Police Chief and officers regarding their serious concerns about this change. We believe this decision poses a risk to our community's safety because it limits a crucial tool for crime prevention. We share the HCAO’s commitment to fair and equitable law enforcement. However, we are disappointed that police leaders across the county were not consulted on this major policy change. We believe achieving equity requires a collaborative approach that considers the operational realities and specific needs of communities like Wayzata. We will continue to advocate for a public safety strategy that is both fair and effective. Click here to read letter on this topic.

Pull It Day

Dig It Day - Volunteers Still Needed!

Get to know your neighbors while volunteering! This Saturday, October 18, the Public Works Department needs your help getting City gardens ready for winter. The morning will kick-off at the Panoway Plaza with check-in and refreshments. From there, volunteers will be dispersed to gardens in groups.

This is a family-friendly volunteering opportunity! Sign up as a family, a group of neighbors, as a couple, or on your own! This will be the perfect setting to meet other generous residents and participate in the nurturing of Wayzata’s landscaping.

Volunteers are needed from 8:30 to 10:00 AM.

Fill out our Pull It Day Sign Up to volunteer.

The Klapprich Park construction is currently underway. The site construction is expected to continue until late fall, and the building construction is expected to continue into the winter. Specific construction updates can be found at the Klapprich Park Project Webpage.

Water Meter Replacement

The City of Wayzata has contracted with Ferguson Waterworks and VEPO Metering to replace approximately two-thirds of the residential and commercial water meters throughout the city. Meters were last replaced approximately 20 years ago and are approaching their useful life.  The contractor has begun notifying affected properties, via letter, to schedule appointments, beginning in mid-December.  There will be no cost to the property owner for this meter upgrade, but owners are required to have the water meter replaced.

Property owners will need to ensure that the water shutoff valve on the incoming water service (before your water meter) is in working condition.  If the valve does not close or it leaks, it will need to be replaced or repaired prior to scheduling an appointment.
