A Message from Mayor Mullin

Don't miss the Big Woods Preserve at Peak Color!

I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful autumn. I have a personal recommendation: take a walk in our own Big Woods Preserve this week. (Entrance on Wayzata Blvd, just East of Lunds)  The fall colors are truly spectacular. This 14-acre preserve is a precious piece of our local history.  The rustic, woodchip-covered John Berryhill Trail is blazing with color. Named for Wayzata Super Volunteer John Berryhill (Citizen of the Year 1977 and Volunteer of the Year 2012), the trail features century-old sugar maple and basswood trees showing off their brilliant seasonal transformation. If you haven't visited this hidden gem yet, now is absolutely the time!  Also, join me for my monthly Mayor Muni Meetup at the Wayzata Bar and Grill on Monday, November 3rd, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM for a chance to visit and share ideas about Wayzata—all are welcome.

Planning written in pencil on paper

401 Lake Street East

Studio BV has submitted a variance application on behalf of Walleye Capital LLC, a tenant and affiliate entity under common ownership with the property owner at 401 Lake St E, requesting consideration to reduce the required first floor retail percentage. Properties along Lake Street that are zoned C-4 (Central Business District) are required to use at least 50 percent of the building frontage and ground floor building footprint for retail. A variance for this property was granted in 2020 to reduce the ground floor retail requirement from 50% to 22%. The new proposal requests a further 50% reduction to allow for a total of 11% retail on the ground floor. The remaining 11% of the existing retail space would be dedicated to the service based functions (office/meeting space) of the third floor tenant, Walleye Capital LLC.
