March 16 Lane Closure and Tree Removals

On Monday, March 16, Hennepin County will be partially closing the westbound lanes of Wayzata Boulevard between Punch Pizza & Colonial Square.

During this time, the City's tree contractor will remove trees marked with orange ribbon along the southern edge of the Big Woods Preserve. These removals are limited to diseased Elm, infected Ash, and three non-native trees that do not meet Wayzata's safety standards.

We appreciate your patience as we work to maintain the health and safety of our local preserve.

Road Work Ahead: Expect Delays for Highway 12 Construction Project

Motorists traveling on I-394 and Highway 12 will experience delays as well as lane and ramp closures during the 2026 construction season. The road work will bring traffic impacts stretching from Wayzata to downtown Minneapolis through November.

I-394 work

I-394 construction began on Feb. 22 to make important safety improvements and extend the life of more than 30 bridges and the highway. During the first phase of the work through mid-summer, motorists traveling on westbound I-394 between downtown Minneapolis and Hwy 100 in Golden Valley should expect significant delays during afternoon rush hours. Road work will then continue in the eastbound I-394 lanes from the summer through November.

Highway 12 work

Highway 12 work between Wayzata and Minnetonka begins in early April and continues through November for a major pavement preservation project. Motorists will experience lane reductions between Shoreline Drive (Co. Rd. 15) in Wayzata and I-494 in Minnetonka. Several ramps will also be closed during the project. Motorists should also expect delays and weekend closures.
