[ARCHIVED] Night to Unite

Each year on the first Tuesday night in August, the City of Wayzata and the Wayzata Crime Prevention Coalition hosts “Night to Unite,” a summer evening dedicated to celebrating and strengthening the commitment to a safe community. For Wayzata residents, this is an opportunity to put together a neighborhood celebration, gather with
neighbors to get to know one another, play games, enjoy a few hot-offthe-grill favorites, and encourage crime prevention.

Neighborhoods are asked to register their block party so representatives from the Police and Fire Departments, as well as elected officials, city staff, and McGruff the Crime Fighting Dog can stop by to visit the parties that evening from 5:15 to 8:30 p.m. for community building. If you are hosting a block party, go to and fill out the registration form by July 26.

In conjunction with the Night to Unite event, the annual Wayzata Crime Prevention Coalition’s Night to Unite Luncheon is held 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Wayzata Country Club. The Jim Fish Award for Crime Prevention will be presented. The keynote speaker, Wayzata Police Chief Mike Risvold, will highlight some of the most significant and sometimes “bizarre” cases investigated within the past year by the department. Go to and click on the member events calendar to purchase tickets.
